CAN interface, hardware check of 9300 (all variants)

Question:

How can be ensured before starting the 9300 devices (all variants) that the CAN bus is correct from the hardware point of view (interface driver)?

Answer:

A control is possible by measuring the OHM's resistance of the CAN terminals at X4 (important: connector is pulled off). If the interface driver is defect, it might be that in the CAN network of further devices there is a defect at the CAN interface, as there is no mains isolation. Following values are to be measured:
  • CAN-High to CAN-GND: ca. 5.3 MOhm
  • CAN-Low to CAN-GND: ca. 5.3 MOhm
  • CAN-High to CAN-Low: ca. 38 kOhm
  • CAN-GND to terminal 7 (Analog-GND): 100 Ohm

With the mentioned values only a hardware-check of the CAN interface can be executed. If there is a great deviation of the values, there seems to be a defect. On the other hand only the measurement is no guarantee for a faultless function of the CAN interface.
