Encoder input (X8), digital frequency input (X9) and DFOUT (X10) - not possible to use all in parallel

Question:
Why is it not possible to select an incremental feedback system (incremental encoder or SinCos encoder), the digital frequency input or output does not work?

Answer:
The drive controller 9300 has 2 frequency counters (hardware), but 3 incremental interfaces are available. For the interfaces encoder input X8, digital frequency input X9 (DFIN) and digital frequency output X10 (DFOUT) one counter is required each. Consequently, only two of the three interfaces can be activated at the same time.
If two assignments have already been made, the third assignment is rejected. The output of DFIN can't be connected to other function block inputs.

The activation of the functions with the assignment of the hardware counters is made as follows:
  • Encoder input (X8):                              by selecting an incremental feedback system (C0025 <> 1 or 10)
  • Digital frequency input DFIN (X9):         by entering the DFIN in the processing list (C0465/XX = 200)
  • Digital frequency output DFOUT (X10):  by selecting C0540 = 0, 1, 2 or 3 in the function block DFOUT

The digital frequency output does not assign a hardware counter, if
  • C0540 = 4 (directly X10 = X9) or
  • C0540 = 5 (directly X10 = X8)

In case of these setting the transmission happens physically.

Consequently, following combinations of the three frequency inputs/outputs can be realized:
  • (with counter)       Encoder or Sin/Cos encoder to X8,
  • (with counter)       Digital frequency signal to X9 and
  • (without counter)   Physical transmission of the input signal to X8 or X9 to the digital frequency output X10 (C0540 = 4 or C0540 = 5)

By deleting one assignment with hardware counter, another assignment with hardware counter can be realised.
