Faster updating of operating pages

Question:

How can the updating of operating pages be reduced?

Answer:
  • In the settings of the page determine an update time of 100 ms.
  • Summarize all Boolean values that you visualize on one page to one variable/code, e. g. in a download variable. On the operating page you access to only one Bit of the variables. Instead of X read access on X codes the HMI reads one code only.
  • In case of graphical operating units use the character set of the HMI Designer instead the one of a Windows font. When a Windows font is used: The smaller the font height, the faster an operating page is updated.
  • Make the updating longer of those functions which are in the background of the HMI, e. g. automatic operations, command areas, status areas. The more functions are running in the background, the more time is required for the update of the page.
  • If possible, use only one alarm area and one message area. All alarms or messages should be in a context, e. g. in a doubleword. They should not be in completely different address areas.
  • If possible, use process data channels instead of parameter data channels in order to transmit variables/codes.

Static elements like texts or pictures do not influence the updating of the page.
