Rounding display values

Question:

How can values in codes be displayed as rounded values?

Answer:

Sometimes it is not necessary to display all decimals of a value. You can define the length of decimals on a screen by rounded off digits how many decimals are to be cut off from the number to be displayed. The displayed number is not rounded.

To round the displayed value a linear correction must be set for the variable. All code values with decimals are of type FIX32 (see attribute table) and are displayed with the factor 10,000 in the operating unit. The following linear correction results:

Display of the value with one decimal (rounded off digit=3):
Operating unit: min=500 max=501
Device: min=0 max=1

Display of the value with two decimals (rounded off digits=2):
Operating unit: min=50 max=51
Device: min=0 max=1

Display of the value with three decimals (rounded off digits=1):
Operating unit: min=5  max=6
Device: min=0 max=1

Application:
The value of the actual position is to be displayed with one decimal on the operating unit. If the drive is on a setpoint position of 100.0 mm a difference of the actual position of +/-0.0001 mm is realistic. The displayed value would be between 99.9 mm and 100.0 mm. If the value is rounded the displayed value remains stable at 100.0 mm.
