FCNT - Free piece counter does not count

Question:

Why does the free piece counter FCNT does not count, although it is entered in the processing list?

Answer:

The function block FCNT is an incrementer and decrementer.

Additionally, the counter content is compared to a fixed value, which is applied to the input FCNT1-CMP-VAL. In case of equality the output FCNT1-EQUAL is set an the counter is reset to the start value.

If the input FCNT1-CMP-VAL is not assigned with a value, the comparator responds already with the first pulse and resets the counter to the start value. In order to enable the function block to increment the input FCNT1-CMP-VAL is to be connected to a fixed value code digit FCODE 473/x. The comparison is to be entered under code C0473/x.

If the comparison function is not required, 32767 can be entered. The counter then counts to the figure limit.
