Pumping of Pseudo-plastic Fluids using SMVector drives
Positive Displacement Pumps require constant V/Hz mode when used with inverter drives. Pseudo-plastic fluids pose a unique challenge. These fluids have higher viscosity when they are not flowing, thereby requiring higher starting torques to get flow.
A good example of a pseudo-plastic fluid is ketchup. It takes a lot of effort to get ketchup to begin to flow from its bottle; however once it is moving it requires little effort to remain flowing from the bottle.
