Fixed as of:
PLC Designer (version 3.28.0 and later)
Behavior of the new version:
If the c250-S safety controller is added via the EtherCAT master’s “Search for Devices” context menu command, the detected device is automatically inserted into the project with the identified version.
Description of the behavior:
If the c250-S safety controller is inserted into the PLC Designer project using the “Search for Devices” context menu command of the EtherCAT master, the following error message appears after the application is downloaded to the safety controller:
The service handler is not available or has returned an error.
Under what conditions does this behavior occur?
This behavior occurs when the EtherCAT master with version 3.18.2.0 is connected to the project and the safety controller with the older version 1.0.0.2 has been inserted. Using the “Search for Devices” menu command inserts the c250-S safety controller with the older version 1.0.0.2.
Affected products:
PLC Designer version 3.20 and later
Short-term measures:
Manually insert the c250-S safety controller using at least version 1.0.0.4.
Assessment/Recommendations:
If an outdated version of the c250-S safety controller is used in a PLC Designer project, this results in an error message during the download. A newer version 1.0.0.4 of the safety controller is available and can be manually added to the project.
