How to use access categories?

Rights management

Access categories are part of our rights management system, if you haven't already, we recommend reading our article: Rights management explained.

The role of every user determines what permissions that user has. Access categories are a selection of pages and services that can be added to a role. All users with that role will then have permission to view and use those pages and services.

You can configure as many access categories as you like yourself, or you can use our default access category: Category A. This is one generic access category you can add to all services and pages. If you would like to make a distinction between access categories, you can make new access categories.

Create a new access category

Please follow the steps described below to add a new access category.

  • Go to the Admin which is accessible from the Apps menu in the top right corner if you are currently in a different X4 Remote app.
  • Open the main menu, go to Roles , then [add access category].
  • Fill in in the desired name, then press [add].

Edit or remove an access categoryIn the same menu as where you create a new access category. You can also very easily [edit] or [remove] an access category. When an access category is still in use with a service, you can't remove that access category. Please move all services to another access category first.×Dismiss alert
