Compared to an IE3 motor, the m550-U three-phase motors reduce motor losses by up to 40% and exceed global efficiency requirements. In many regions of the world, investments in motors with IE5 energy efficiency (Grade 2) are promoted in order to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions.

The IE5 m550-U three-phase motors cover the power range 0.37 ... 11 kW and are efficient according to IE5.
