Change of view through shift change: Lenze participates in the day of action for people with and without disabilities

For more than ten years, the globally active automation specialist Lenze has been cooperating with the Paritätische Lebenshil fe Schaumburg Weserbergland (PLSW). As part of the nationwide "Shift Change" day of action, a special e xchange took place. Thomas Pahne is actually in charge of incoming goods at Plant 1 in Groß Berkel. But on Thursday, October 12, he was not to be fou nd at his usual workplace. Instead, he lent a hand in a workshop run by PLSW while two Lebenshilfe employees helped us in the incom ing goods department . The background to th is role re versal was the "shift change" an initiative in which people with and without disabilities spend a day getting to know each other's workplace.

Exciting insights on both sides

Thomas Pahne's area of operation was the industrial service of Lebenshilfe. Among other things, he wrapped and packed wound plasters and stowed sheetrock screws in boxes. "This day of action is great for getting new perspectives on work in the workshops," said the goods receiving manager. The
atmosphere, professionalism and attention to detail made a lasting impression on Thomas Pahne. And there was deep satisfaction on the other side as well. The Lebenshilfe employees were sorting and repackaging plastic parts in Lenze's incoming goods warehouse, which the automation specialist needs to cover openings in frequency inverters. It was nice to see how much commitment the guests showed and how quickly they were integrated into the team: As a socially responsible company, Lenze was happy to accept the invitation to "change shifts". The aim of the action day was to create encounters between people with and without disabilities and to enable new perspectives and it succeeded. Thomas Pahne is not the only one who can look back on an exciting day. The friendly guests from the Lebenshilfe worksh ops also left the Lenze factory premises with a smile and valuable experiences.
