Airport "Baggage handling systems": from check-in to baggage reclaim.

Airports are not only a hub for millions of passengers but they are also a trans-shipment centre for an even larger number of pieces of luggage and packages. A hotspot for intralogistic applications: with efficient conveyors which are optimally and safely connected to upstream and downstream systems. Our long-standing experience, numerous projects, and the intensive dialogue with both customers and insiders support you in creating flexible, individual, and energy-efficient conveyor solutions. Benefit from our tailor-made, efficient, and high-quality drive and automation solutions from one single source.

Baggage transport at the airport poses maximum demands to conveyor systems. Individual baggage items are often transported to their place of destination on conveying belts that go on for miles. Provided with a unique code, the baggage is temporarily stored, sorted, and transported to the unloading station at the right time.

Ideal for big airports: baggage handling systems with containers

Here it is crucial to distinguish between active and passive conveyor units: active units are equipped with an individual control and an individual motor and travel their route automatically. Passive conveyor units are driven via belts and/or rolls and therefore require a more complex route guidance. Transport speeds up to 14 m/s can be achieved.

Predestined for smaller airports: systems without containers

Conveyor systems without containers are very economic, their maximum throughput, however, is lower. Speeds from 2 to 3 m/s are achieved. In most cases, transport is effected via belt straps, sorting is carried out using so-called pushers or cross-belt sorters, and tilt tray sorters.

Check-in

Check-in: perfect timing.
