The start of the celebration was signalled by the 'Future of Mechanical Engineering Day', a press and customer event attended by more than 400 international industry experts and journalists. What will the trends of tomorrow be and what current developments will influence the industry? What solutions will shape the future?
These were just two of the questions discussed by the experts at Lenze with customers, partners, journalists and friends of the company. Renowned speakers from a wide range of industries spoke about digitisation, the Internet of Things and the future challenges and opportunities of mechanical engineering. In the evening it was time to celebrate and glasses were raised to Lenze as the guests enjoyed delicious food, good music and dancing.
At the financial press conference on the following day, our managing directors presented the facts and figures from the financial year just ended as well as the new digital annual report to around 50 journalists. This report marks a change of course for Lenze which, for the first time ever, has published its business activities and financial results on a target-group-specific multimedia platform under the motto '70 years. You were also able to gain insights into the future strategy of Lenze. The title of the subsequent trade press workshop with Director of Innovation Frank Maier, in which Lenze's new automation platform was unveiled for the journalists, was 'The Disappearing Boundaries between Drive-based and Controller-based Automation'.
The large family celebration in Extertal marked the end of the week of festivities. Around 4,000 Lenz staff celebrated the anniversary with their families alongside friends and partners of the company from around the world. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a birthday party, with laughing children and cheerful adults.
Alongside activities for children, bull riding and the Formula 1 simulator, the highlights included the Walk of Time where visitors could travel along the Lenze timeline and find out about the most significant milestones of the company from the past into the future.
The presentation of a cheque for € 30,000 to the organisation Pink Ribbon was another special moment. The money will be used for a programme in which young people whose mothers are suffering from breast cancer support other children and young people. The presentation of the cheque followed a sporting event in which all Lenze staff from around the world donated the number of kilometres they had covered, accumulating a total of 287,714 kilometres' worth of sporting activities.
